I got a new car in May. Loved the Santa Fe, but the Altima has been treating me well. I went to visit Brittni in Baton Rouge for a few days over 4th of July. In August, Holly, Britta, and I traveled to Memphis to see Hanson, but little did Holly and I know how much we would enjoy the opening band: Rooney. So, at the end of August, Holly & I made the 8 hour trek to Austin to see Rooney again. What a wonderful night! One day, if you’re lucky, you’ll get to hear the stories. In October, I went up to Tulsa for a Members Only Event with Hanson. Christmas treated me well this year. I was definitely blessed with more than I could handle. I started class again in January, and if all goes as planned, I will finally graduate in May with an Associate’s. It only took me 8 years to get that. WOOP WOOP! In February, Holls and I braved the torturous snow storm that hit Oklahoma, and we headed up to Tulsa to see Rooney. Thanks to the Altima, we only had one slight problem in about 3 feet of snow, but all is well. At the end of the month, we headed back up to Memphis to see Rooney. And here were are in March. This year is flying by quickly, and the next few months look promising. My parents surprised me with a trip to France so May is a pretty big month for me. Possibly Rooney in April and/or May. Dinner at Old Washington (I’ll talk more about that in the next few weeks), another Members Only Event with Hanson in Tulsa, and my parents surprised me with a trip to France, and that’s just in May.

Next entry will be better. I’ve had a few things weighing heavily on my heart lately that I’ve really been wanting to write about, but I just haven’t come up with the right words. When I do, I promise I will write it. But until then, everyone go listen to Coconut Records and when I figure out how to put up pictures, I will post some as well.

Last night after class, I came home and attempted something other than the black bean burritos I have been eating (whole wheat tortillas, black beans, corn, avocado, freshly squeezed lime juice, and cajun seasoning). I decided to make tofu. Now I’ve had tofu in Miso Soup from Japanese restaurants and I love Tofu Pad Thai from Pei Wei; however, this was different. I decided to throw some on the skillet and cook. It wasn’t bad, but it had no flavor. So I attempted Carribbean Black Beans from Whole Foods. Well, they have no salt which means no flavor. I decided to attempt to make a black bean burrito and just hide their taste by combining the flavors of the vegetables and Cajun seasoning; I realized I have no more tortillas. So I ended up with a half baked potato with sauteed mushrooms and Cajun seasoning. It was fantastic!

No matter how tough this fast is, I know that in the end I will be much stronger. This is discipline that I needed to force myself to do. I am thankful for the strength that God has given me during this time.  I have to keep reminding myself that this fast isn’t for me, but it’s for the One that gave his life for me. And no matter how hard this fast may be for me, I can do this with Him.

Normally, I’m not a huge David Crowder fan, but his cd Church Music has opened up my eyes and my heart so much, especially during this fast. One of my favorite songs from this album, and one that really helps remind me why I’m doing this fast, is called Shadows. You need to check it out, but here are the lyrics.

One night about two weeks ago, I realized Holy Week is coming upon us. It may sound nerdy, but I love Holy Week! It’s one of the most surreal moments in the year for me. Christ died on the cross for me. He died for my sins and so that I may live. Not only did He die on the cross, but He also rose from the dead. It’s crazy to think that He did that for me. So I was thinking about what I can do for Him, and I decided to do the Daniel Fast for just Holy Week. The Daniel Fast is a 21 day fast that eliminates the majority of foods that I eat.

However, I have decided to go the full 21 days and write about it. I am a horrible writer so just bear with me.

Today I am working on the fourth day. This may be one of the hardest days. I want real food. Just being honest. But I know that the Lord has me, and He is going to take care of me.

I was talking with my best friend Brittni, also fasting, the other day about how amazing it’s going to be doing this. Just to see what God is going to do in our lives and in those lives that we affect. Just getting closer to God, and to be able to clear my mind and my heart of all impurities, and just hear from Him is making this fast worth it.

Also, I’m fasting for New York City. I have such a heart for the people of NYC. I can’t explain it, but I do. I firmly believe that one day, that place will be so on fire for God, it’s going to be unreal. I’m fasting for the people there, for my plan in/or not in NYC. Whether He wants me there or not, I know that I’m ok in His arms.

In EIGHT more days, I will be on my way to Michigan. I am so stinking excited!
It will be such a relief to be out of Arkansas and with my family for a little bit.
Hopefully, one day, I will be up there (or New York) for good.

Anyways, that’s all I got. Nothing absolutely exciting happening lately.

I will be attending a Michigan Wolverines game at Michigan Stadium in November.
I am so excited!
I will finally get to see some family that I haven’t seen in a few years as well.

My mother reminded me that it could possibly be snowing in Michigan by this time. YEAH!!

I really wish I could remember where this was taken, but there was a competition (with several other young boys), and they all dressed up as Ghandi in honor of his birthday. I couldn’t save the bigger picture with all of them in it, but here is this one.

Next weekend, I may get to see Jessica. I have missed her so much since she has moved. But Phil Wickham is playing in Pine Bluff on the 18th, and we just might get to see each other there.
